Unbound Heroes Poinsettia and Wreath Sale

The Unbound Heroes (11th/12th grade AU classes) are excited to announce our first of two fundraisers this year! This initiative aims to help offset the costs for Senior/Junior activities and field trips.

We are offering a variety of poinsettias, Christmas plants, and wreaths in different sizes and colors. If you purchased from us last spring or during Christmas, you know we had some fantastic plants. We’re thrilled to be partnering with the same nursery for this sale.

Please take a moment to review the attached brochure for more details. If you have any questions or would like to place an order, feel free to reach out. We can begin taking orders later this week.

Although it may seem early to think about Christmas, we need to have all orders completed by Thanksgiving to ensure delivery to the school on December 4th.

Thank you for your continued support throughout the school year!

We look forward to an exciting week ahead!

BPS Technology Reminders

The Buffalo Public Schools provide students with one-to-one devices to engage in instruction. It is expected that students take care of their devices and use them for school purposes.

At the beginning of the year, students at Olmsted reviewed the Acceptable Use Policy in Social Studies classes. It is our expectation that students demonstrate digital citizenship by respecting their classmates and the work of others.

Digital citizenship extends to the community. To ensure students were aware of The Dangers of Social Media, presenters from the Missing Persons Clearinghouse (NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services), spoke to students in Grades 5-10. Their presentation covered a variety of topics related to safety online and what they should do when encountered with potentially dangerous situations. Please review the handouts provided for parents:

Resource Handouts.docx

As always, we ask for your support in ensuring that students are appropriately using technology at home as well as in school. Your support is greatly appreciated as it helps keep our school community safe.

If your child is experiencing concerns with their BPS issued device, feel free to visit the Center for Innovation, Technology & Training at 1515 South Park Avenue.

If there are any questions and/or concerns, feel free to reach out at (716) 816-4330.

Olmsted Picture Day and Senior Portrait Info

We have scheduled dates for senior portraits and picture day for the 24-25 school year. Flyers for 5-11 will go home next week.

Picture Day grades 5-11: 9/30/24, starting at 7:55am in the auditorium.

Retakes grades 5-11: 11/12/24, starting at 8:00am in the auditorium.

Senior Portraits (including make ups): October 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, and 25th, starting at 7:55am in the auditorium. (Lifetouch stated they will only be able to send one camera this fall instead of three, this is why portraits will be scheduled throughout the week.)

Vaccinations Update!

PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS:

Are your child’s vaccines up to date? NYS mandates certain vaccines required for school. Make an appointment with your child’s doctor to make sure your child has all necessary vaccinations. If vaccinations are not updated by September 18, 2024, students will not be allowed to attend school in person or virtual in accordance with NYS Public Health Law 2164 starting September 19th.

As of today, we have 15 students in Grade 6, 21 students in Grade 7, 3 students in Grade 8, 4 students in Grade 9 and 26 students in Grade 12 that have yet to turn in updated immunization records. PLEASE be sure to get this taken care of as soon as possible. We do not want students to miss out on valuable instructional time. Please send updated vaccination records to stcarter@buffaloschools.org or via fax at (716) 838-7530

Please contact your child’s doctor with any questions about vaccine status.
