The New York State Education Department (NYSED) is seeking input from stakeholders about the need for additional flexibility related to certain provisions of the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) pertaining to administration of State assessments in spring 2021 and identification of schools and districts for improvement.

If you would like a senior ad in the yearbook, please use the information attached to get yours in. The deadline is February 11th.
Also a couple of other quick things:
- Yearbooks are included in senior dues. Ms. States and Mr. John are coordinating this.
- Seniors should not buy a yearbook online. If you did, you will get a refund towards dues.
- Senior portraits are 2/22-2/26 and you all will be individually scheduled
They will be during asynchronous times so kids do not miss classes. The 41 in school students will be scheduled for Thursday morning. The 60 virtual-only students will be scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. LINKS were sent out to sign up! - Students need to dress up, as COVID-19 protocols prohibit us from giving out tuxedo tops or shawls like we are usually able to do.

Hello Olmsted Family!
We have scheduled senior portraits for February, but due to the deadlines for the yearbook and the reopening, we want to make sure that all staff and students from grade 5-11 are able to get their portraits in the yearbook. In the event that we are unable to photograph all students upon your return to school or in the case of a full-time virtual student and would still like to have your portrait in the yearbook, we are asking for home portrait submissions.
Please take and submit a self-portrait as per the attached flyer.

What is this form? We are seeking your consent to test your child for COVID-19 infection. The Buffalo Public School District is partnering with our Supplemental Health Care school nurses to test students for COVID-19 infection per the New York State Department of Health mandate.
What is the test? If you consent, your child will receive a free COVID-19 test. The test involves inserting a small swab, similar to a Q-Tip into the front of the nose.
What if my child is sick? The COVID-19 test performed in school is not intended for sick children (see COVID-19 Daily Screener). If your child is sick, your child should remain at home and you should contact your child’s primary care office for questions.
How often would you test my child? If you consent, your child may be selected for random testing in accordance with NYS Department of Health mandates, until further notice.
How will I know if my child has COVID-19? If the test results show COVID-19, we will call the parent/guardian using the contact information that you provide below. Parent/guardian will be expected to pick up their child from school. If the test results do not show COVID-19, the child will be given a letter to inform you of the result. Please ensure contact information is up-to-date and notify the school if this changes.
What should I do if my child has COVID-19? You should keep your child and household contacts at home. Most people have mild COVID-19 illness and can recover at home without medical care.
